This website is operated by DIY Geek. Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to DIY Geek. By visiting our site and/or purchasing something from us, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by these terms and conditions (“Terms of Service”, “Terms”). These Terms apply to all users of the site. Please read them carefully before using our website. If you do not agree to all the terms, then you may not access the website or use any services. Our store is a WooCommerce store — they provide the e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products to you.

1. Online store terms

By agreeing to these Terms, you represent that you are at least the age of majority in your province of residence. You may not use our products for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, nor violate any laws in your jurisdiction. You must not transmit any worms, viruses or destructive code. A breach of any of the Terms will result in immediate termination of your Services.

2. General conditions

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason at any time. Your content (excluding credit-card information) may be transferred unencrypted over various networks; credit-card information is always encrypted during transfer. You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell or exploit any portion of the Service without our express written permission.

3. Accuracy, completeness & timeliness of information

We are not responsible if information on this site is not accurate, complete or current. The material is provided for general information only and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for decisions. This site may contain historical information which is not current and is provided for reference only. It is your responsibility to monitor changes to our site.

4. Modifications to the service and prices

Prices for our products are subject to change without notice. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service (or any part) without notice. We shall not be liable for any modification, price change, suspension or discontinuance of the Service.

5. Products or services

Certain products may be available exclusively online and may have limited quantities. We have made every effort to display product colours accurately but cannot guarantee your monitor’s display. We reserve the right to limit sales to any person, region or jurisdiction and to limit quantities. We do not warrant that the quality of any products will meet your expectations.

6. Requirements for solar PV installations — SANS 10142-1 and related standards

Identify the optimal positioning of all solar PV equipment, and ensure any installation complies with the following standards:

  • SANS 10142-1:2017 Ed. 2 — Section 7.12, Section 8, Annexes G, I, J, K, M, N and P.
  • SANS 60364-7-712:2018 Ed. 2 — Low-Voltage Electrical Installations
  • NRS 097-2-1:2017 Ed. 2 & NRS 097-2-3:2014 Ed. 1 — Grid interconnection of embedded generation
  • SANS 62109-1:2012 Ed. 1 — Safety of power converters for PV systems
  • SANS 60947-3:2012 Ed. 3.1 — Switches, disconnectors and fuse-combination units
  • SANS 60269-6:2011 Ed. 1 — Low-voltage fuses for PV systems
  • SANS 10292:2013, SANS 10199:2016 — Earthing and earth electrodes
  • SANS 1973-8/3/1:2017 — Low-voltage switchgear and control-gear assemblies

All AC, DC and communication cables must be kept separate in their insulated wire-ways. All connections between the PV arrays and the inverter must be assembled through a combiner box with the relevant string protection. All installations must be done by a qualified electrician, and a CoC (Certificate of Conformance) must be supplied upon request.

Failure to adhere to any or all of the above stated in Section 6 will render the warranty of the products null and void.

6.1 Warranties

  • The warranty is limited to the manufacturer’s warranty, and the manufacturer shall elect how to give effect to it.
  • The customer must use an approved installer to enjoy warranty protection, and that installer must issue a CoC.
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Company makes no warranties regarding marketability, quality or fitness for any particular purpose.
  • Any advice concerning the use, design or operation of the goods is accepted at the customer’s own risk.

7. Accuracy of billing and account information

We reserve the right to refuse any order. We may limit or cancel quantities purchased per person, household or order. You agree to provide current, complete and accurate purchase and account information and to keep it updated.

8. Optional tools

We may provide access to third-party tools which we neither monitor nor control, provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties. Any use of optional tools is entirely at your own risk.

9. Third-party links

Third-party links may direct you to websites not affiliated with us. We are not responsible for their content or accuracy and are not liable for any harm related to the purchase or use of goods or services from third parties.

10. User comments, feedback & other submissions

If you send us comments or suggestions, you agree that we may edit, copy, publish and use them in any medium without restriction or compensation. Your comments must not violate any third party’s rights or contain unlawful or malicious material.

11. Personal information

Your submission of personal information through the store is governed by our Privacy Policy.

12. Errors, inaccuracies & omissions

Occasionally there may be information that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions. We reserve the right to correct any errors and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information is inaccurate at any time without prior notice.

13. Prohibited uses

You are prohibited from using the site for any unlawful purpose; to solicit unlawful acts; to violate any laws; to infringe intellectual-property rights; to harass or discriminate; to submit false information; to upload viruses; to collect others’ personal information; to spam or scrape; or to interfere with the security features of the Service.

14. Disclaimer of warranties; limitation of liability

We do not guarantee that your use of our Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure or error-free. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk and the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. In no case shall DIY Geek or our directors, officers, employees, affiliates, agents, suppliers or licensors be liable for any injury, loss or damages of any kind arising from your use of the Service or any products.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless DIY Geek and our affiliates from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.

16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is unlawful, void or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforceable to the fullest extent permitted, and the unenforceable portion severed, without affecting the remaining provisions.

17. Termination

These Terms are effective unless and until terminated by either you or us. If you fail to comply with any provision, we may terminate this agreement at any time without notice, and you will remain liable for all amounts due up to the date of termination.

18. Entire agreement

These Terms and any policies posted by us constitute the entire agreement between you and us and govern your use of the Service, superseding any prior agreements.

19. Governing law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa, at 13 Makriel Road, Germiston, Gauteng, 1422.
